Very Experienced and Patient Career Instructor.
If you thought about flying but are apprehensive about the cost or you are not sure if you could do it, then come fly with me and see if it is for you. You just might fall in love like I did. Learning to fly does have its frustrations; however in the end it is all worth the investment you will make and you will have a lot more fun than frustration. I find learning is much more effective when you find an instructor that suits you…don’t rush into a relationship that is less than comfortable for you from day one.
Let me tell you a bit about me. I view myself as a career instructor; although I am a physicist working in aerospace, teaching flying is my first love when it comes to picking a profession. I am not a newbie, far from it; I am not headed for the airlines or charter service. My mission is to teach you how to be a safe and informed pilot. If that is your goal too, then we are headed for a great relationship.
I trained on both the Atlantic and Pacific Coasts, in high desert, in the Rockies and the Sierras. Although hooked on flying at 10 years old, I was not able to do anything about it until I had the money for it. I finally got a private pilot certificate with Flying Particles at Livermore Airport, CA in 1990. Six years later I got my CFI certificate in December 1995 and my CFII in March 1996 while living in Colorado Springs, CO and working in a Part 135 operation where we were under contract to provide pickup service for UPS and FedEx from small towns in the Rockies. This was the best mountain flying experience you could ever have.
Since returning to California in 1997, I added the MEI and ATP certificates and the FAA Gold Seal. Although it has been a lot of hard work to get to this point, it has all been worth it. I now have over 7000 hours of teaching experience and 8000 hours of PIC time. I have taught students as young as 14 to 75 years of age, couples, buddies, and individuals, even those who were not quite sure they could do it came to find out happily that they really could. So if you have been thinking about it, you owe it to yourself to give it a try; let’s do a demo flight together soon.
