Hi All,
I was looking around for deals on life vests, since we often fly over the bay waters and would at times be forced to fly low due to the class B airspace (i.e. OAK 29 - mid-span San Mateo Bridge at 1400' to PAO, SF Pacific coast to Half Moon Bay at 1400' close to shore or 2000' far from shore).
The EAM XF-35 Life-Vest has great reviews, TSO-C13f approved (
http://theraft.com/frames/main/pages/1avitprod/2vest/xf35/xf35.htm), and is only 1.13 lbs, with inflatable CO2 cartridges. They are sold individually on skygeek.com for $66 a piece, but buying direct from the EAM manufaturer (theraft.com) is only $32.36, which is the price they quoted me for a minimum purchase quantity of 10 pcs.
I think this is an excellent deal, I was initially thinking about getting just 2 for the most common CFI + student scenario, for the unlikley case of an engine failure, should it ever occur on these routes. But at this price I would get all 4 for my plane at Advantage (it could be velcro'ed to the bottom of the seats, I checked and there is more than enough clearance and room, and would just increase weight and balance empty weight by 4.5 lbs), so all we need is gather more owners, CFI's or pilots and get 6 pcs. more to enjoy this deal? The life vest package is only 7” x 7” x 2” so I think it can also easily fit into a flight bag.
Please let me know if you would be interested in buying together with me on this deal.
