Advantage Aviation Instructor Profile

Kelly O'Dea - CFI, CFII

Biography

My first flight experience was when I was nineteen, riding in the backseat of a Piper Cherokee from Pearce Field in Lake County to San Carlos. I watched the pilot intently, completely enthralled with the routine procedures and the new environment. I wanted to understand everything so I asked a lot of questions. After landing, I told the pilot that I wanted to learn to fly. He assured me that if I really wanted to do it, then one day I would. Do you have a similar story?

It was several years later that I was able to pursue my goal of flight and most fortunate to have received all of my training in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am confidently experienced to teach students in the Cessna 152, 172N, 172SP, 177RG, 182, Diamond Katana DA20, Diamond Star DA40 and Symphony 160 aircraft and am knowledgeable with the Garmin G1000 glass cockpit.

My fascination with airplanes and aerodynamics continually inspire me to learn as much as possible about aviation. In 2009 I am adding the CFII and MEI certificates to my repertoire of credentials.

Being a CFI gives me the opportunity to share this knowledge with aspiring student pilots on their way to their own pilot certificates. My style of teaching is gentle and deliberate and I am patient and encouraging. I can work with you on passing your FAA written exam as well as prepare you to be confident during your initial FAA Private Pilot check ride.

My dedication to education in the field of aviation will assure my clients I am always up to date with the latest information and teaching techniques. I am eager to assist both the aspiring professional pilot as well as the weekend warrior who wants to pursue their own dream of becoming a pilot.
