Advantage Aviation Instructor Profile

Jerod Flohr - CFI, CFII

Biography

Hello, my name is Jerod Flohr. I was born and raised in a small town in west Texas. All of my life I have dreamed of being an aerobatic/airshow pilot. When I graduated high school I went straight to flight school. I earned a private, instrument, and commercial multiengine-instrument from US Flight Academy in Big Spring texas, flying the Cessna 150, Piper Cherokee 140, and a twin Cessna 310 and 320. I then moved to San Antonio, Texas and earned my single engine commercial add-on through ProFlite Aviation. I earned my CFI, CFII, AGI, and IGI from American Flyers in Addison, Texas.

I have worked all throughout Texas, including instructing Air Force pilots and navigators in San Antonio, commercial pilots in Fort Worth, and Harvey-Rhin Aviation in Houston where I finally received my tailwheel and aerobatic priveleges. By then I had 1000+ hours and was amazed at how much flying a tailwheel/aerobatic aircraft improved my skills as a pilot. Since then I have moved to the Bay Area under the guidance of Sean Tucker and Ben Freelove to pursue my life-long dream of being an airshow pilot and the best aerobatic instructor I can be. So far, in a little over four years, the longest I have gone without flying is a span of ten days. What can I say, I love it! I believe that flying is an artform; I like to consider myself a student of the art. I believe that pilot certificates are licenses to learn and I am glad to say that I learn something new on every flight. I recently graduated from Tutima Academy of Aviation Safety, Sean D. Tucker, where I was fully checked out by Ken Ericson and Ben Freelove to fly the Pitts S2B-C. Currently, I fly a Pitts S2A and an Extra 300L privately and love every minute of it! If you have any questions, feel free to email of call!
