Advantage Aviation Instructor Profile

Eliot Floersch - CFII, MEI

Biography

Aircraft Specialty: Glass Panel and other advanced avionics, Multi-Engine, Jet transition training, Jet-Prop Turbo Commander, Cirrus SR22

Flight Experience: Flying in the Bay Area since 1991 without accident, incident or violation; CFI since 1998; Turboprop instruction since 2002. 6000 hrs dual given

Teaching Experience: My four year degree in Aviation Flight Operations at SJSU and my experience as a CFI have both prepared me well for teaching safety seminars such as: advanced avionics, mountain flying, advanced instrument procedures and scenarios, WAAS/LPV approach capabilities, night flight operations, and high altitude training.
I have extensive flight experience in crosswind and slip training, emergency procedures, mountain flying, high altitude training, IMC (instrument flight), and engine management.

Biography: I stopped working as an EMT in order to become an aeromedical rescue pilot. That dream hasn't exactly come true because I have two wonderful daughters now and it has become more important to retain the scheduling flexibility that flight instructing allows.

I've since side-stepped my focus from professional rescue flight towards the path of promoting safety in the knowledge that I pass to my students. I am then able to feel that I am doing my part to save lives by providing the best instruction that I can offer. I promote a life-long availability to students with regards to safety or decision-making concerns toward flight. I've also had the wonderful opportunity to help many pilots in need during emergency situations. It is all about reducing the sad number of NTSB reports.

I really enjoy completing Angel Flights (charity medical transportation) with students as they continue advanced training and mentoring. This is a tax write-off for the student and it is a win-win for everyone.

I prefer teaching in "Glass Panel" airplanes because I find that they offer much more necessary information, safety features, and back-up instrumentation. I feel good knowing that my students once having seen the advantages of going glass…"they never go back."
Aside from simply loving to fly, passing well received knowledge to students makes any CFI feel immortalized and that is one of the finest sensations life has to offer.
